"her tears fell on her pages
found me out
on her words
i don't know what to do or say"
really makes me think it was suicide. "Her tears fell on her pages/found me out/on her words" sounds like he is describing a suicide note to me, and "I don't know what to do or say" seems a fitting reaction to him reading the note. Also, he is so full of regret the whole song, and keeps saying sorry that he didn't love her or care enough, like he feels that is the reason she died.

Yes Mark's former girlfriend who he went out with for many years committed suicide.
Oh my God really? That's so horrible.
Actually no, I was wrong, Katy (who most of Mark's songs are about, see Katy Song for one obvious example, actually died of cancer)
@sitwell11
Aw, that's still sad.
Genius, I love it!
Katy didn't commit suicide. She died from Leukemia.
Song is beautifull. I have been listening to this album and red house painters I, and both are incredible
So Beautiful.
I'm not arguing with anyone here but I think we're all over-anylizing the song, which is amazing by the way. I play it on guitar every time I pick it up
Do you have a decent tab for it?
I apologize I do not
so so beautiful.
such an awesome voice
this song blew me away when i first heard it. its still great
i feel warm when i hear his voice . what a beautiful song..
What about the sweetness we knew what about what's good what's true from those days
Easily one of the saddest songs in the entire history of sad songs.
It's very interesting that it's these sparse, simple acoustic ballads that still affect us most deeply. I would honestly recommend anyone reading this to type in "I'm Troubled" by The Oxcart Ramblers.
No, I am not in that band, nor am I a spammer.
But trust me, music like this is still alive and still being made and played, even in the most secret cor(o)ners of northwest Indiana...
that's it, I'm buying this album
Really nice stuff...first time lstening.
This is my first time listening to this song, and I just gotta say: Woah, simply amazing.
Care Me Oh this one!
Caught this tune on XM/Sirius and was hoping to find a live version. What a haunting, majestic slice of Americana this is.
i never tire of this song, as with many of skm's songs...but this out of all of the others... i can't shake, no matter how many times it's been played
It's the same thing here
I love them! Even though its "kil" not kill, do u think that their name might be a Romeo and Juliet reference?
Heard this song in the movie"The shopgirl" and i just had to find it.Now that i've heard the full version it is even more amazing and hauntingly beautiful then i could have imagined.Thank you for posting it.

they are named after a korean boxer. you should check out tiny cities, their cover of neverending math equation is great, different than modest mouse but great still.
